Weekly Theme: Cocktail Master

Another useful and necessary tool for any bar and cocktail master is a good muddler. While some have spikes on the bottom, and other are made of metal, the best kind of muddlers are made out of wood and flat on the end. The point of this is to not bruise the herbs and fruits while muddling. Bruising (as opposed to smashing) doesn’t release as many oils and can affect taste, so mash do’t bruise. In addition, always press and twist rather than jam down over and over, and always use a mixing tin, a pint glass, or other sturdy glass to avoid chipping and breaking anything while you’re making a drink.
