Totes Stick Umbrella

A stick umbrella is the proper name for the longer, more classic-looking umbrella with a curved handle. Many companies make these, and many are in the $300-$5000 range, boasting elegant wood choices and extremely valuable metal details. This totes stick umbrella doesn't have any fancy parts but it does work, and it does look better than your run-of-the-mill collapsible umbrella. This umbrella has the necessary metal tip to allow you walk with it like a cane if you so desire, and has the classically designed hook handle so you can hang it up or drape it on your arm. If you want to elevate the look without the price tag this is the one for you.

United By Blue Log Cabin Out-of-Doors Candle (8.5 oz)

 via UnitedByBlue.com

via UnitedByBlue.com

We know this isn't exactly in the "decor" theme this week, but the nose notices just as much as the eyes do, so were putting in this week.

Usually the indoors are a place to relax and keep the outside, out. But sometimes we want parts of the outside in, like the smell of a log cabin in late Fall. Enter this hand-poured, Philadelphia-made, environmentally responsible candle from United By Blue. Not only does this candle smell better than it looks, it is made with GMO-free soy wax, and a cotton wick, meaning it burns clean and has little impact on the environment. The only thing bad about this candle is we wish it came in a bigger size.

Watson Arch Lamp in Brass

via Houzz.com

If you have a living space with limited side table or coffee table space, then an arch lamp like this one is a game changer. Not only is is a unique lighting fixture that adds to a more mature and sophisticated aesthetic, it frees up space on your counter, tables, and shelves for other things, like books, glasses, and decorative pieces. With this lamp we suggest using it as more mood lighting than task lighting and using an Edison bulb to make it really look antique.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Review

 via barnesandnoble.com

via barnesandnoble.com

Let's end this week on a fun note. This book has gotten a lot of hype this year due to the movie adaptation that came out in the spring. Like many other book to movie adaptations, the book is way better than the film. So if you saw the film, and want to read the book, prepare for a slightly different weave to this nerdy, fun, cheer-on-the-protagonist, popcorn tale. This book was a super quick read, as Ernest Cline does a great job of ending chapters with cliff hangers and planning a story out to entice you throughout its various stages. If you are looking for a fun book to read on the beach or to mentally break from your long days of analytical work, then I suggest this great ride through his not-so-out-of-reach VR world.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson Review

 via Amazon.com

via Amazon.com

If you are a little stuck, in the "I'm not sure what I'm doing with my life" stage, or probably most applicable, thinking "I have a great job and make good money and I'm still not happy" this book is your new bible. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson is an abrasive, in-your-face, funny, tome chalk-full of realizations and stop-complaining motivational messaging disguised as an anti-self-help book. Mark is the kick in the ass needed to really prioritize the things you truly want, a forceful reminder to not sweat the small stuff in order to only allow the things that really matter to hold weight in your life.

Matcha Green Tea Set Review

 via uncommongoods.com

via uncommongoods.com

If you haven't experienced matcha tea yet, I highly suggest you go to your closest 3rd-wave coffee shop and see if they have any available. Matcha is a Japanese powered green tea made from early harvest (baby) tea leaves. It has a ton of antioxidants and is supposedly really good for you. Not only that, matcha, and the steps involved in making it, is more of a ceremony than simply a process. The whisking motion, done with intention and focus, is designed to promote tranquility and stillness within the whisker, which we could all use a bit more of these days. Outside of the more wu-wu elements matcha tastes great and a matcha latte with almond or coconut milk is down right delicious. So after you try it at a shop, grab a kit that makes the experience more personal, and much cheaper in the long run.

ePEBO by BODUM Vacuum Coffee Maker Review

 via Bodum.com

via Bodum.com

If you are a coffee guru or like weird interesting gadgets, then this is the drink-maker for you. The ePEBO coffee maker is a vacuum brewer, meaning it uses a syphoning-style system that is calibrated to brew your coffee at just the right temperature for the right amount of time, every time. This ePEBO, as compared to its cheaper brother the PEBO has a built in heat source you can plug in, meaning you don't have to sit the apparatus on your stove or hot plate in order for it to work. While there are faster and more methodical methods to home coffee brewing, this one is by far the most interesting to watch. This is the coffee maker for the weekends you have guests, or the brewer you break out after a home made 3 course dinner party. COlor your hipster guests impressed, with this sweet-looking, great tasting, vacuum coffee maker.

Pintado Cordial Glasses Review

If you are going to put forth a decent amount of effort making your cocktails taste delicious, you might as well serve them in a way that makes them look just as good as they taste. These cordial classes are perfect for those who enjoy the chemistry of cocktails, and appreciate an elevated presentation of our world's simple pleasures. Cordial glasses are traditionally for smaller, typically spirit forward drinks, but can be used for champaign (shout out to Leo as Gatsby) and other more elegant beverages. Break these out to really impress your guests and show them you are a man of culture and experience.

Wurkin Stiffs Tie Bar

via wurkinstiffs.com

As the guys at Wurkin Stiffs say, tie bars are like the collar stays for ties, and they're right. Tie bars are an easy way to add details to your more formal or business casual outfits, making it look like you got dressed on purpose. A tie bar is male jewelry that is easy to rock, and in a brushed silver like this one, it's hard not to match with what ever colors you are wearing. That being said, match your metals whenever possible (belt buckles, watches, cufflinks, etc.) to make sure you are looking extra fresh.

DW has made a name for themselves in the watch world for championing the minimalistic, affordable, clean watch. These watches may not be the highest quality, handmade by 100 year old Swiss watch makers, but damnit they work, and look great doing it. This simple face is bold yet doesn't distract from the wearer's outfit in the way that a fresh pair of white shoes would. The thin profile is great for those prone to knocking their wrists into walls, counters, and doors, and the leather strap will last at least 3 years if taken care of. This watch is one of those simple details that make a large impact when put with the right outfit.

Everyman Co. Grafton Pen

 via everyman.co

via everyman.co

This week, we are going with lifestyle accessories. The first one on the list, the flagship product of a newly-found favorite lifestyle accessory company of ours. The Grafton Pen by Everyman Co. This perfectly weighted, extremely versatile pen is our new everyday (no pun intended) go-to. Not only does it look like it costs 4 times it's price point, it takes a variety of ink refill cartridge including Bic, Uniball, and Monteverde making it easy to find a refill in a pinch. The aluminum body and bolted on clip means it's built to last, and the oddly satisfying clicking mechanism provides a satiating movement and sound for fellow fidgetters. It's weird to feel this stoked about a pen, but its minimalistic design and ability to "just work" fits the looking good on-the-go very nicely.
