If you are #InTheOpen then there is no better shirt for showing it off over the next, you know, 11 months than this one. The shirt is a cotton polyester blend, and has a bit of stretch like you would expect from an athletic brand betting what seems like over a 3rd of their budget on a single type of cross training. It's pretty breathable though the graphic can get in the way from the wicking we'd all like to have in the chest, but that can be overlooked as its the best way to tell everyone you are doing Crossfit, without actually telling them. When you're in the middle of a workout for time, or long AMRAP (that is hopefully less than 20 minutes) that involves any standing olympic-style lift, grazing your shins with the bar is inevitable. And if you are super unlucky, the knurling catches on its way up to a snatch or power clean, causing some burning, bleeding and bruising, not to mention you have to disinfect the bar afterwards, and your shins. Since we are still in workout mode, lets talk about dynamics of running in the spring. Life in the the Everlane means wearing clothes that aren't unnecessarily over priced due to brand reputation. This heavyweight pocket T costs Everlane about 12 dollars to make, and they sell it for $28, which is a pretty small mark up compared to their competitors. This pocket T is the perfect gateway T for the impending spring transition. It's made with a heavier cotton, that is a little rougher meaning it's a bit warmer and will last longer, softening with increased wear. The heavyweight T idea isn't new to Everlane, but the pocket is, which we whole heartedly endorse as we empathize and stand with the puffy nipple population to which pocket T's provide some relief.

The North Face is taking a page out of Gen X's High school closet with this new "windbreaker" jacket. Complete with a touch of flashy turquoise and a cargo front pocket, this jacket screams new age thrift store gem. The best part about it, is that you don't have to wash it 5 times before you feel you've gotten the previous owners smell out of the collar. This lightweight pull over is 100% polyester, water resistant and windproof, making it a great top layer for hiking, and for a quick walk to the store in March and April when every other day seems to have rain in the forecast. What's even better is that it has a hood that stays up on your head, unlike many of the designs from the 90's, releaving the need to walk with your head down just to stay dry.

Timberland Brook Park Chukka Boot

This is one of those cases where a Tim looks more like a Cole. These Chukkas from Timberland are more office appropriate boots compared to their iconic brethren, and don't scream its namesake with a large tree stamp on the outer heal, making them our top pick for this price point. While Timberland does offer another chukka with nicer leather, they tend to fall apart sooner than one would expect. These however, offer longevity, at lower risk (cost) and keep mother earth in mind as the inner lining is made from 50% recycled plastic. Note on wear: make sure you wear high socks with these as the tops can feel mildly sharp against your ankle bone if you go with no shows.
