SaturdaysNYC White Orchid T-shirt Review

via Saturdaysnyc.com

via Saturdaysnyc.com

This kind of block graphic T-shirt has been growing in popularity for a while now. This "California desert hipster" look as we call it has been making it's way around the country at a very fast pace, with supreme, Gucci, and Louis-V hopping on the style train. The good news is, you don't have to pay $130 for a t-shirt. While $48 is still a bit steep, this one is worth it. The orchid graphic is different and a good size, with nothing extra on the back. It's clean and simple. It will go well with black, green, or maroon pants, jeans, shorts, and what ever sneaker you want. Snag it and pair it with your other summer staples.

Everlane Sun-Faded Slub Pocket Tee

via Everlane.com

This summer is turning into a scorcher out of nowhere. It seems like it was just 2 weeks ago when we were only hitting the low 70s in many parts of the US, and now 90 is the new norm. In light of the heat, and the impending holiday that is likely to be spent outside, this week's goods picks are all about staying cool and protected in the sun. This pocket T from Everlane is a great summer on-the-go shirt. The light sun-faded rose color keeps you cool and won't show sweat as much as a blue or gray shirt. The slub feel will give the shirt some texture and added absorption, which will be key if you want to stay cool, and the pocket adds a bit of character.  At this price point it is an easy pick-up in multiple colors, setting you up for the remainder of the hot season.

Everlane Pique Pocket Tee

via Everlane.com

via Everlane.com

You are a culmination of your parents; your Mom's nose, Dad's forehead, and the cheekbones of your grandfather. This Pique Tee from Everlane was made in the same vein, with it's parent's being a common pique Polo and a standard crew neck, creating something unique. The basic construction and silhouette are distinctly crew neck tee while the fabric is typical of a pique polo, adding a more waffle-esque texture and sturdier body. They threw away the polo collar and kept the in-set pocket, making this a truly unique shirt in a color that is ready for spring. we suggest wearing this with white or navy chinos and nice pair of sunnies.

Kato Buffalo Tee

via Katoclothing.com

via Katoclothing.com

Regardless of whether you've been to the small town of Kato Minnesota where this self-titled brand calls home, this basic graphic T celebrating a loved corner of the upper mid-west serves as an interesting layer piece. As we enter into the season where temperature swings can be as much as 15 degrees, layering a graphic T with a flannel, or thicker button down and maybe a vest or light jacket and perhaps even a scarf, is a great strategy to look great and be prepared for what ever the day has in store for you from dusk to dawn. So if you are going out to roam, as the buffalo do (as the song says) layer up and use this a base.

Buck Mason Vintage Tri-Blend Curved hem Henley

via BuckMason.com

via BuckMason.com

"The new classic" is a phrase that is thrown around a lot in marketing. Whether its a car commercial, furniture ads, or apparel marketing, chances are a few brands have used it. However, when looking into the new henleys from Buck Mason the phrase came to mind. It has a blended cotton fabric that gives it a vintage look and texture, the classic henley 4-button design shouts 1920s lounge wear, and the curved hem at the bottom produces a casual silhouette drawn from old baseball tees of yesteryear. Giving it a surprisingly authentic vintage feel, for a newly made product. This is definitely a staple base layer for the spring transition and a great "just in case" toss-in for a weekend away in the summer. This is a $50 shirt that you'll get your money's worth out of. We suggest wearing it with a pair of jeans, and a black Chelsea boot or chukka. And on a colder day, maybe a thinker button-down on top.

Available on BuckMason.com for $50

Everlane Heavyweight Pocket T

via everlane.com

via everlane.com

Life in the the Everlane means wearing clothes that aren't unnecessarily over priced due to brand reputation. This heavyweight pocket T costs Everlane about 12 dollars to make, and they sell it for $28, which is a pretty small mark up compared to their competitors. This pocket T is the perfect gateway T for the impending spring transition. It's made with a heavier cotton, that is a little rougher meaning it's a bit warmer and will last longer, softening with increased wear. The heavyweight T idea isn't new to Everlane, but the pocket is, which we whole heartedly endorse as we empathize and stand with the puffy nipple population to which pocket T's provide some relief.

H&M Hooded T-shirt

via hm.com

via hm.com

We are channelling our inner Californian with this pick. This hooded t-shirt is a step off from the classic work-play crossover spectrum we normally play in and a step into the street style of Long Beach. A hooded t-shirt provides a unique style with some mild added functionality, especially in the cold. This piece is a great snag if you are looking to add a different vibe to your closet without investing a lot. We suggest you pair this with a nice pair of skinny jeans and some Nike Presto's along with a gym membership to make everything slightly tighter to complete the look.

Benny Gold Oatmeal Baseball Tee

via BennyGold.com

via BennyGold.com

For those who don't know about Benny Gold, pull up a chair. Benny is half skateboarder, half designer, half coffee enthusiast, half parent. That's a lot of halves, but we never said we were good at math. Benny Gold has a unique style that has been apparent over the years in his various logos and designs, none more famous than his signature paper plane. While we aren't close enough to go to his coffee shop-retail store, if you are in the San Francisco area, it is definitely worth at least a coffee stop. As for our pick, we really like this oatmeal-charcoal striped tee because it is an off-beat color, perfect for fall, goes beyond your normal tee with the paper plane logo and the sleeve stripes and is 100% cotton meaning it will breath well and feel good against your skin. We suggest you wear this vintage-esque tee with blue jeans and some P.F. Flyers, because, why not?

Everlane Heavyweight Tee

via everlane.com

via everlane.com

It's natural to get a little chunky as the weather begins to cool down. Your drive to go outside lessens, those cookies in the cookie jar start calling your name a little louder, and all of the delicious Fall beers begin to accumulate around the mid section. It happens to almost all of us. The good news is we aren't the only thing getting a little thicker. Everlane has just put out the Heavyweight Tee, a heavier cotton version of their classic t-shirts. These tees are super soft and are perfect for Fall. They have a little bit more body to them, just like us come December, keeping you and the pouch where you keep your extra cookies a bit warmer. We suggest pairing this with a solid pair of dark wash jeans or cords. It will also serve as a great base layer for when the highs are only hitting the lower 60s.

Everyone can use a new v-neck t-shirt, especially in this color. It can be paired with pretty much any pant you have in your closet, like jeans (dark or light), or chinos (in white, gray, khaki, navy, maroon, we can go on), or Corduroys in pretty much any earth tone. This is also a great layer for the Fall weather, if it ever shows up, with either of the flannels we've posted in the past couple of days or a great base layer for a bomber jacket, again, if the mercury ever decides to retreat. This DSTLD v-neck is made of 100% cotton, produced in LA, and has gotten a lot of attention from publications across the web and men's mags.

Buck Mason Slub Tee

via buckmason.com

via buckmason.com

Buck Mason is a newer American brand literally started by two guys in a garage in 2013. Since their founding, they have made some of the best men's closet essentials to come out of U.S. since Levi's did it back in the day. A great example of these essentials is their 100% slub cotton crew-neck t-shirt. As we have mentioned before, slub cotton is material that will have some texture to it, giving the shirt a better feel and more casual look. It is breathable, and it comes in this awesome forest green, or what they call "resin" that is the perfect transition t-shirt from summer to fall. Check these guys out, and try out a t-shirt for yourself. We recommend you wear this with dark wash jeans and some brown chukkas for a casual, yet classic look you can't go wrong with.

Saturdays NYC Condensed Circle Print T-Shirt

Saturdays NYC white t-shirt logo.jpg

We don't post a lot of T-shirts, mostly because going out in a T-shirt, while totally acceptable in the right setting, usually doesn't get you noticed, or doesn't make you different than any other guy at the bar. This T-shirt from Saturdays NYC however, is the perfect under layer for a bomber jacket, and perfect for the bomber we just posted on our Instagram (which you can also look at our review here). This T is reminiscent of the classic Gun'n'Roses circle logo, but much more minimalistic giving it a designer feel. Speaking of feel, it's 100% cotton, meaning it will wick away sweat, and be soft to the touch, which is perfect for when your game is on point and the night gets "touchy."

Saturdays NYC Miller T-Shirt

Saturdays NYC is a great smaller American brand based in, you guessed it, NYC. Right now they are having a sale, so you can snag some of their staple street clothes and loungewear at 40% off. This includes the standard Satudays T-Shirt. This all-cotton, simple graphic T is perfect for a base layer when stepping out for a quick errand and obviously perfect for your Saturday trek through the city of your choice to get tacos (because what goes together better than Saturdays and tacos?... the answer: not a lot). The color palette of this shirt (ash and clay) also offers a combo you don't see too often which gives it a bit of character we like to see in simple layers like this.
