Club Monaco Sutton Dress Pant Review

via clubmonaco.com

via clubmonaco.com

Weekly Theme: Work Holiday Party

On to the pants! Because your jacket is meant to be a different color than your pants, you could go with a few different colors like gray or a deep olive, but since the lapels are black, black is the most pragmatic choice. Keeping the maroon jacket as the primary color flex keeps the outfit as a whole sophisticated and minimal. These pants from Club Monaco are a wool blend so they will lay nicer than any normal chino and are lined to be comfy to wear. Pick up a pair to wear to your holiday party, and keep them to add to your weekly workwear wardrobe.

Reebok Thermowarm Compression Tight Review

via Reebok.com

via Reebok.com

Weekly Theme: Fall Workout Gear

When your workout program involves olympic lifting or at least a decent amount of barbell work, tights come in handy more than you’d initially realize. Protecting your shins from bar contact, and you legs as a whole from the cold during indoor-outdoor workouts, tight are a critical part of any cross-trainer’s workout wardrobe. These tights from Reebok are standard issue. They aren’t flashy, or made from space material (polyester), but they stay tight, they’re ventilated in the right spots, and they work, what else do you need?

Robert Graham Pollard Perfect Fit Pants Review

via RobertGraham.com

via RobertGraham.com

This week’s theme is one of variance. Jeans have always been a staple, but with a shift in jean trends coming seemingly every 18 months we are offering some alternatives for the Fall season. Starting off, we give you something a little different. These chinos from Robert Graham are oozing with character. The base pattern for these is a micro chevron, layered with a pin-dot style dobby print, giving these pants more visual textured than most. The taper is slim but not overly skinny, and is designed with a standard 5-pocket construction, making them as familiar in feel as they are different in look. Be different and and set an example that’s less lemming and more leader.

Everlane Midweight Slim Chino Review

via Everlane.com

via Everlane.com

Khaki-colored chinos are an all-season kind of wear, but these khakis are a little darker than the normal office style, making them perfect for Fall. These midweight slim chinos from Everlane are a great jean alternative as they are thicker than your light summer pants, but also aren’t super thick or lined with flannel, making them cozy yet breathable. The slim leg gives you a more modern fit, and the slanted pockets make them seem a little more formal. Snag a pair of these and wear them with almost any top, but we suggest a blue chambray button down, or olive sweater for a really nice look.

Rag & Bone Fit 2 Chinos in Stone Review

via bloomingdales.com

via bloomingdales.com

Listen, these will likely get the most attention from the aforementioned self-proclaimed fantasy fashion officer Brittany because we are still past Labor Day and these are pretty white. These are however, technically "Stone." So you can once again tell Brittany to lay off. While we have never seen a stone this white, it fits our criteria for the week, and these chinos are pretty great. There is a reason Rag & Bone has become the preferred "step up" from the J. Crew's and Banana's for many millennials. Quality, and fit. They made their way to popularity partially due to their chinos, and these are their most popular fit, in a color that you can wear all Spring, Summer, and Fall, making it well worth the investment.

DSTLD Men's Skinny Selvedge Chino Pants in Charcoal Review

via DSTLD.com

via DSTLD.com

We've reviewed these before in the goods, but DSTLD has come out with another color: charcoal, and they look awesome. These paired with the Nike Huaraches we posted yesterday look killer together. These selvedge chinos are a little thicker than your cheap J.crew, or Banana chinos, but they will last longer. Just be sure to order a pair you can cuff at the bottom to show of the selvedge detail, that's the crucial selling point in these. That self-edged fabric flair is the tall tale sign of quality for pants, so show the people "in the know" that you're in the club too.

Club Monaco Super Slim Linen Pant

via ClubMonaco.com

via ClubMonaco.com

When on Summer vacation, temperature control is key when packing and picking out outfits. Wearing tight, thick chinos or jeans is a great way to chafe or cultivate a bit of a swamp in the nether regions. Avoid these by packing lightweight pants, like these linen-cotton blend chinos from Club Monaco. The classic 5-pocket construction, gives them the look of jeans or standard chinos, but without any of the heavy-weight fabric. We suggest getting them in bleach, which is a slightly off-white, because, you're going on vacation, and why not? These will also look great once you get a bit of a tan going. We say show off your style, and your tan while you stay cool.

Bonobos Summer Weight Chinos

via Bonobos.com

These are not your Dad's chinos. These chinos are designed to be ultra light and, should you select the slim or tailored fit, your legs won't go swimming in them like the business casual patriarchs of yesteryear.  They are the perfect bottom for nicer, outdoor occasions during the warmer months, great for the tee box, and they go well with your buddy's yacht and a fitted Polo. So if you have to cover up those chiseled calves you perfected over the winter months, you might as well do your best to not cause any unneeded lower body sweat and put on pants that are as thin as possible.

Wrangler Raw Skinny-Fit Selvedge Jeans

via wrangler.com

via wrangler.com

We've had our heads in Denim quite frequently as of late. While we have tried to venture away from the indigo twill, we can't seem to stay away for long. If you haven't read our deep dive into jeans and what makes a great pair, be sure to check it out here. These selvedge raw denim jeans from wrangler are an ode to the old way of making jeans, manufactured in the only large format selvedge denim factory left in the states. These jeans are made in the same place as the Levis selvedge lines and are sold at the same exact price point. The big difference here is cut. If you want an American-made, skinnier, more modern fit, with a slightly lower rise than you can get with the Levis line, then these are for you. Also be aware, these come with a button fly and are truly skinny jeans. If you have a set of tree trunks for thighs, we suggest going with the slim instead.

Club Monaco Lux 5-pocket Corduroy

via Clubmonaco.com

via Clubmonaco.com

We were scouring the online sale rack of Club Monaco (where we end up at least once every 3 days) and stumbled on these bad boys. These cotton blend corduroy pants from Club Monaco have a classic jean-style 5-pocket construction, a slim cut through the leg, and are made of a cotton blend that includes a hint of stretch so bending down to pet your dog won't result in any ripped seams or abrupt crouching halts due to excess tension around the knees. So pet away, just remember to lint roll them after to get all of that dog hair off of you. Right now they are 30% off so take advantage while you can. We suggest wearing them with a gray henley (like the pick from yesterday) or a simple white button for a smart look that can't go out of style if it tried.

Available on sale at ClubMonaco.com for $70 (normally $99)

Reebok CrossFit Open Training T-shirt

via reebok.com

via reebok.com

If you are #InTheOpen then there is no better shirt for showing it off over the next, you know, 11 months than this one. The shirt is a cotton polyester blend, and has a bit of stretch like you would expect from an athletic brand betting what seems like over a 3rd of their budget on a single type of cross training. It's pretty breathable though the graphic can get in the way from the wicking we'd all like to have in the chest, but that can be overlooked as its the best way to tell everyone you are doing Crossfit, without actually telling them. So keep your voice and workout style game strong with a sick t-shirt that does all the talking for you.

Nike Training Utility Tights

via Nike.com

via Nike.com

When you're in the middle of a workout for time, or long AMRAP (that is hopefully less than 20 minutes) that involves any standing olympic-style lift, grazing your shins with the bar is inevitable. And if you are super unlucky, the knurling catches on its way up to a snatch or power clean, causing some burning, bleeding and bruising, not to mention you have to disinfect the bar afterwards, and your shins. If you have been doing Crossfit, or know someone who has for a while you've almost certainly seen shins that look like they've been on a tour of duty or two. To keep this from happening, and maintain the beauties that are your shins and knees, wear a pair of training tights, like these from Nike. Not only will you instantly fit in at any box around the world, you will also protect yourself from your own in-workout rage monster pulls. We suggest wearing them with shorts, unless you are super confident, and don't mind feeling naked while working out.

Available on Nike.com for $45
