Weekly Theme: Fall Workout Gear

Continuing up the body to the torso, we have this metal vent tech long sleeve from Lululemon. Lulu infused silver into the fabric, not to make it more expensive (though maybe) but to fight odor. Silver is naturally anti-bacterial, meaning this shirt won’t stink up your laundry basket like your 100% cotton shirts do post workout. This long sleeve was also designed with vents down the spine, on the sides, and around underarms meaning you keep dry while staying warmer than you would in your standard t-shirt.

Available on lululemon.com for $88

J.Crew Slub Cotton Henley Review

via factory.jcrew.com

via factory.jcrew.com

Labor Day has come and passed, marking the unofficial end of summer. With that comes the start of the snarky comment "don't you know you can't wear white after Labor Day?" Thanks Brittany, we get it.

In order to quell Brittany's sass we have collected a few items that aren't technically white, but close so you can yell at Brittany "It's not technically white Brit, so back off I look good!" To kick us off, an oatmeal colored slub cotton henley from J.crew. This will be a Fall standard as a stand alone top or in a layer scheme. Pair with browns and black and greens and blues, and most other colors because it's oatmeal, but can basically function as white, Brittany.

Available on factory.jcrew.com for $19

Buck Mason Vintage Tri-Blend Curved hem Henley

via BuckMason.com

via BuckMason.com

"The new classic" is a phrase that is thrown around a lot in marketing. Whether its a car commercial, furniture ads, or apparel marketing, chances are a few brands have used it. However, when looking into the new henleys from Buck Mason the phrase came to mind. It has a blended cotton fabric that gives it a vintage look and texture, the classic henley 4-button design shouts 1920s lounge wear, and the curved hem at the bottom produces a casual silhouette drawn from old baseball tees of yesteryear. Giving it a surprisingly authentic vintage feel, for a newly made product. This is definitely a staple base layer for the spring transition and a great "just in case" toss-in for a weekend away in the summer. This is a $50 shirt that you'll get your money's worth out of. We suggest wearing it with a pair of jeans, and a black Chelsea boot or chukka. And on a colder day, maybe a thinker button-down on top.

Jack Wills Ettington Crew Neck Long Sleeve

We are getting to the point in the season where the beach or lake is still an option for weekend plans, but the nights are starting to cool down. Making this Ettington nautical-themed long sleeve from Jack Wills the perfect top to keep you comfortable. It fits somewhere in between a shirt and a sweater, since it is fairly light with some added chunk, making it the right weight and sleeve length for a cooler night out on a boat, near a bonfire, or a step out to the local watering hole after 7:30 pm. Note: This shirt has a pretty thick neck hem that some may need to get used to, but it adds to the look so we'll take the 15 minute adjusting period as our cross to bear when throwing these sailor-inspired stripes on. We suggest wearing it with jeans, fitted khaki chinos, or solid navy shorts.

Available on sale at JackWills.com for $50 (marked down from $99)

Boden Long Sleeve Floral Button Down

via bodenusa.com

via bodenusa.com

The mid-summer break is now over, but that doesn't mean Fall is here yet! There are two and half solid months of warm weather and patio sitting to be had. This means the floral print is still in high rotation. By now, you have most likely exhausted your floral top game, wearing you 2-3 floral prints to a number of nights out, or parties, meaning now is the perfect time to add one more to the closet and expand the rotation by one. This floral print long sleeve from Boden is just the right amount of bright, and comes in regular or slim fit, depending on your preference. Right now, it's also super cheap, so don't feel bad about adding another set of flowers to the closet. The options you have the more likely you are to have the right flowers for the right occasion. We suggest you wear this top with gray chinos, slim khakis, or even white shorts.

Available on sale at BodenUSA.com for $29 (on sale from $80)

Summer nights can be tricky to dress for. How much will the mercury drop? How humid will it be? Will there be a breeze? How buggy is it outside? A linen shirt like this from Club Monaco is the right layer regardless of the answer to your mid-summer-nights questions, unless there's rain. This all linen long sleeve is breathable for the humidity, and the sleeve can be pushed up according to your wind and temperature forecast. What is even more cool about this long sleeve is the edges are all rolling seems, meaning all the edges will have a small curl, and with the blue and gray striping it has a distinct beach feel that is hard to deny. Look good on the boardwalk and be comfortable doing it. Club Monaco is having a sale right now so you can get this beach bum top for 45% off (with the extra 30% they are giving you at checkout right now).

Theory Linen Crewneck

Crew necks are a staple of the cool spring and summer nights, but a linen crewneck? It's pretty rare, and we aren't sure why because this 90% linen, 10% nylon (aka LEMAIR) is pretty darn cool, and we mean that in both senses of the word. The linen keeps you cool and makes the top breathable, while the nylon makes it smooth to the touch. A couple of notes: the shirt is a little sheer and will fit a little loose, but its supposed to be that way, so don't go with a smaller size and don't play sports in it, also it's dry clean only so don't throw it in with your darks. We suggest you wear it with dark wash jeans, khaki shorts, or even white chinos.

Available on Theory.com for $195
